Blog post #4
The book "Stepping up" by Mark Fink is about a boy named Ernie who is convinced by his best friend Mike to go to basketball camp. The first day of camp Ernie encounters a fellow camper named Craig who is a bully. Craig starts calling Ernie choke because he played one bad game, Craig was also yelling at Ernie for making tiny mistakes during some games. These actions made Ernie feel nervous and angry. Later in the book Mike starts hanging out with Craig and his friends. During a dance with the girls basketball camp Mike decides to go smoke cigarettes with Craig and eventually that lead to a fire. Ernie starts seeing smoke coming from a room and immediately goes in to rescue Mike and Craig. Craig was taken to the hospital and was lucky to be alive as for Mike he was safe. After that night he became super popular for being a hero. He was even interviewed by a news channel. After the incident Ernie and Craig became friends. We live in a society were we love the hero's. We are fascinated by the men and women in uniforms protect our country everyday. We love hero's in the movies. We believe that they have super natural forces. We see in them as a better version of our self's. So when we find a hero like in the book we want to get to know them become friends with him and almost worship them. Do have a hero in your neighborhood? i'm sure if you look closely you will find one.
